There are some who think that Ricky Gervaisi is hysterically funny. Those people really need to catch an episode-any episode will do-of a show-any show will do-featuring Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge. That whole latter-day Bob Newhart on acid act of Gervais can be very funny for about two minutes…and then you just can't wait for him to exit. Newhart made a career out of stammering, but then again Newhart was funny. When Gervais stammers, you just want him to get the words out and move on.
